New Truck
The company had a driver quit this past Sunday (and evidently he deserted his truck) so they asked us to get it and take it to the yard in Chicago. When we got there, we saw it was a Peterbuilt truck like ours but with half as many miles. Ours had 440,000 and it had 220,000. That's not very many miles for a big truck. They usually last 1,000,000 miles and more. The company (Nationwide Express) usually trades in their trucks for new ones after they reach 500,000 miles so we were about due to turn in our truck for a new one. The problem is, all of the new trucks they are buying right now are mid sized Volvos and these Peterbuilts are the big ones. There is quite a bit more room in these, so we asked if we could just switch over into the truck we picked up. We were given the OK, so we spent about 5 hours Sunday moving all of our stuff from one truck to the other. We practically live in our truck so it takes us awhile to switch, but we are in the new(er) one now and should be ready for another 1/4 million miles in it. That should take us a little over a year.
